Islamic Gnosis in Shia Scholars’ Works (عرفان اسلامی د رمتون عالمان شیعی), Qom, Imam Khomeini Educational and Research Institute, 2017.
As the title suggests, this book presents, for the first time, various topics of Islamic mysticism in the words of prominent Shi’a mystics, structured as a textbook. The book comprises twenty chapters. The first chapter offers introductory discussions on Shi’a mysticism. The remaining chapters feature selected texts from the works of Shi’a mystics and philosophers from different periods, such as Sayyid Haydar Amoli, Mulla Sadra Shirazi, Fayd Kashani, Imam Khomeini, and Allameh Tabatabaei.
Each chapter includes a preface by the author and a selected passage from a mystical work. The topics addressed include the nature of mysticism, mystical ontology, mystical theology, mystical anthropology, spiritual wayfaring, and practical mysticism.
Dr. Asghar Norouzi, a respected scholar, assisted the author in selecting the texts included in this volume.
According to the author, this book is suitable for teaching a comprehensive course on Islamic mysticism and for familiarizing readers with various mystical texts and the perspectives of Shi’a mystics.
